Dustene eats… Anything!!

Spinach
Blueberries
Mango
Banana
Apple
Pear
Peas
Carrot
Sweet Potato
Squash
Cantaloupe
Watermellon
Cheerios

Purée, raw, cooked, it doesn’t matter, she’ll eat it. She’s eating eating eating all day long and all night. She finished off some spinach at supper and wanted to nurse right afterwards.
My girl is growing so fast!

I can’t believe she’ll be a year next month!!!

Customer disservice.

HA! Yeah right, nursing/maternity bras basically go up to a 40 D… Motherhood claims they sell larger sizes, but trust me it’s the same size. The sales lady eventually just handed me a handful of extenders. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Don’t even get me started on sports bras.

Dustene update

Dusty is now 6 and a half months!!!

  • She’s wearing anywhere from 9-12 months clothes and even one 18 months size sleeper. She can’t fit any size 6 mo stuff and even a few 9-12 things run small on her. (Robert and I are really tall so we aren’t surprised at all.) I am so glad I don’t use a regular pediatrician though or I’de be getting the “Holy hawkins batmom, your child is in the 500 percentile!” speech.
  • She’s a big girl.
  • She sits up for long amounts of time and entertains herself really well with a few toys. It’s nice to have a break.
  • She’s teething and has been about a month and a half now.
  • Her first official word is “Hey!” We actually heard it about a month ago but now it’s popping out every now and then. She has been saying “ma” and sometimes “mama” since 4 mo but it continues to get more and more distinguishable and other’s hear it now too. She said “Da-dahhhhhh “to Robert over FaceTime a few weeks ago and just about melted us both.
  • She army scooted about 3 feet chasing an empty water bottle across the floor last weekend while Robert and I were playing Super Mario Bros and we totally missed it! We looked down and there she was!
  • She can stand for long periods of time if you just balance her. She stands on her own in her walker or johnny jump up.
  • Oh, she’s singing now too. I put music on in the house or car and she sings along and moves her voice up and down. It’s very different than her baby talk voice and very low tones, just like I did at her age! :))) ps, we don’t listen to baby jumbo mumbo, we have good tunes!

Put some breast milk on it.

Last night Dustene got a rash that was spreading quickly on her stomach. I called my mom and she said she’d come look at it but in the mean time to put some breast milk on it. I did and in minutes the rash dissipated!

Breast milk is good for:

- Everything under the sun!

That awkward moment when

You’re nursing and trying to put your baby down for a nap, she’s almost out but not quite and you realize you have GOT to go to the bathroom!

Dustene is drooling everywhere!!

Poor baby is teething and is like a drool machine! Is there anything I can do for her? Should I do anything? She has some great teething rings with rattles that she loves! Daddy picked them up for her today at the store. But when she chews, spit, drool and bits of spit up just fall in large quantities. Should I just put bibs on her?

Just a quick vent

I hate when people say my baby is fat or ask (sarcastically) if she’s getting enough food. She’s not fat, she’s not a fat baby. She has cheeks and thighs and that’s the only fat on her. She’s really a very balanced and healthy looking baby. Not skinny, not fat, just right. But there are three people I see frequently who call her fat or tell me I’m over feeding her in a round about way EVERY time I see them.

It really bugs me when people look at Dustene and say she is bald.

Or ask me things like, when is her hair gonna come in? Or do you think she’ll have hair by her first birthday? Come on people! There’s hair on her head, it’s blonde and an inch long in some places, it’s getting thicker and longer everyday.
